Thinking of Buying a '95 GXE
Hello all,
I've owned a 92 SE Auto Max for about 2 years and have
really enjoyed the car, but I've recently been craving
a 5-speed. So I found a '95 Neptune Blue GXE 5-speed at a local lot for $7,995.
It has about 93,500 miles
with no leather or sunroof and no alloys but almost everything else.
What do you think of the price?
It seems reasonable, right?
BTW I'm keeping my '92 and giving it to my wife.
Let me know what you think,
thanks,
Ian

Well the advertised prices should never be the final price you pay. You can always haggle him down. If that car had the additional options, than it would be somewhat better. I got my auto 95 GXE fully loaded but without leather (C&C package, sunroof, power everything, CD player (not BOSE though), etc.) for just a little over $8k about 8 months ago. So the one you're looking at should definitely be lower. I'd say you could definitely knock off a couple hundred to a thousand depending on how you bargain (point out fairly high mileage, lack of options, look for little dings here and there, talk about other cars you've seen for lower price etc.)...
Good luck.
Good luck.
Call your bank and find out what the NADA wholesale and retail value is. You should be able to get it somewhere between the two. IMHO, the car would have to be perfect with all maintenance records for me to pay full retail.
depends on where you are.
you can check
www.nadaguides.com
www.edmunds.com
www.kbb.com
I normally use edmunds.com as they base the value off the condition, zip code, options, mileage, etc... of the car. When you get to the screen, choose the appraise vehicle button.
I doesn't sound too bad if you're in the SF bay area... $7000 would be better with that mileage and options.

btw, you want to see if it has the Comfort and Convience package. Otherwise, you'll have the 112mph or so speed limiter. You can tell that it has it the C&C package if it has:
1) a pin switch under the hood for the factory keyless entry
2) a chrome finisher on the exhaust pipe
3) power driver seat
4) a variable intermittent wiper instead of just an intermittent wiper stalk.

for the help guys, I think I'm goning to pass on this buy, and look for a Max with a little less milage and some of the extra goodies like leather and a sunroof.
I guess I'll be frequenting the For Sale forum.
