God damn car

I have been having a lot of issues lately, one of them is that when I put it into neutral while driving(auto tranny) and while in neutral, my revs go up to 1500, and I stick it back into Drive, almost screeching my tires each time I do it, one night it was doing the 1500 rpm wonder again, I decided to redline it for a couple of seconds, after I let off, it dropped back to 1500 rpms, then all of a sudden I heard my fans go on, and it automatically dropped to 600 rpms, also this caused me to crash in the rain, the higher revs while driving as well, but my car is still fine and does anyone know how to fix this problem? Am I supposed to redline it and scare people all the time when it does the 1500 rpm wonder? I live in Brooklyn, I would hate to attract attention from cops unnecessarely reving. Thanks for your help guys.

loosen the adjuster screw for the butterfly on the TB. It should help, maybe it's set to high or something

Why are you putting the car in neutral while driving? Definately check IACV and Throttle

Your TPS sensor is gone, replace it.

YES!
OP, do yourself a favor and replace the TPS ASAP, if not you are going to go to hell, seriously. Your transmission will most likely slip and you will cry your eyes out.

It does it once in a while, when I rev the engine to redline for a few seconds, and let go, fans will go on, and it will go down, yeah my transmission is taking a beating, its at 1500 rpms and I put it in D, I plan to get another 4th gen maxima though, so I might just leave it alone, and I got a CEL for transmission for second gear, does that mean its done?

I'd say fix the code first. According to the code, check your TPS and replace it if necessary.

Then do at TB cleaning. The butterfly valve might be jammed.

Exact same code I had, replaced it and everything works fine. Don't get cheap man it shouldn't cost more that $100. This way you won't have to buy a new Maxima. :

You can't afford a used TPS? That's nonsense. Put another TPS in right away, before the tranny is shot.

The 2nd gear code is probably due the transmission abuse that's taken place because your engine revving and neutral drops. Check the fluid - hopefully it's not toasted.

If I dont mind askin, what is a TPS sensor? I would assume that the T stands for Tranny, S is sensor, but I dont know.

The tranny decides when to shift based on your throttle position vs. RPMs... so it your TPS is messed up... your tranny is not happy. (and gas mileage prolly is suffering a little too)

Throttle Position Sensor is one of a couple sensors used by the computer to determine what the engine is doing. Transmission, idle speed, fuel injection, ignition, etc all depend on the TPS signal.

Yep, my TPS gave me a lot of signs before it died out. First was the high idle, then the car started bucking a lot during acceleration, and then the tranny slipped. Not a good experience.
