what do Coilovers replace?

Right now my ride feels super stiff. When I ride over bumps it sound like shakin a tin can with a rock inside it. I believe the suspension is all OEM. I'm guess something is either broken or about to go. So I figure if I have to replace anything I might as well replace everything. I called the dealership for prices but my kept cuttin out but basically I heard there are 2 different things in the front and 2 different things in the back that could be replaced.
Can anyone tell me what those "things" are.
I figure if the replacement of OEM parts cost close to what I can get for coilovers then I would go with that route. But I need to know the names of the parts so I can search for inexpensive parts and alternatives.

THANKS

the coilovers replace everything. Strut, spring, strut mounts, strut bearings.

KSport Coilovers replace EVERYTHING. You will only need to reuse nuts and bolts.

well coilovers can replace just the spring or the spring/strut combo depending on what coilover brand you would get. I have Ksports and love them. Thats all you need, just buy ksports for 4th and the replaces your suspension (gets rid of the Oem stuff

So what are the names of each of the things it replaces? So far I'm at "front springs, rear springs, Rear shocks, Front Struts"?? Am I missing anything?

How smooth is the ride with coilovers like Ksports compared to a strut-spring combo, say, Profress and Illuminas ? Trying to decide if I should spring for coilovers or jsut get some aftermarket struts and springs..looking for better handling but a smooth ride, I don't want to be jarred by every bump in the road etc.

My D2s ride much better than my old intrax/tokico setup. Easy install and they ride and handle great.

Well if you dont want to be jarred around and feel every bump in the road then coilovers are not for you. I would go with spring/strut combo.
