Bouncy or Loose Engagement of 5 Speed..... IDEAS?

Anybody know what would cause the transmission to be be very bouncy on engagement? (I know how to drive a stick ) If is in gear and I let off the gas itstead of an even slow down I get bounced around, then there is a moment of play when I hit the gas. Before it engages. Any help would be most appreciated.

I use 93 octance, this is most definatly not an engine problem, she pulls strong and hard.( thats what she said LOL) It is the engagement, but what I need to know is, could it be the flywheel or maybe the pressure plate? maybe a motor mount? Is there a way to test, to figure it out short of dropping the tranny?

This 'bounciness' is inherent in every manual transmission car - it's combination of the torsional flex of the axles, play in the gears, and the rigidity of the engine/drivetrain mountings. The clutch and flywheel only affect it by the sharpness of the bounce, since street clutches have tangentially mounted springs and marceling (wave springs) in the middle of the disc. The clutch is an unlikely cause, unless this problem started occurring overnight and you're having trouble engaging the clutch or shifting gears.

Certainly I would start by looking at the engine mounts. If your car is actually putting 300hp to the road it's especially likely.

Excessive gear backlash usually carries other symptoms and noises, so I'll put my money on engine mounts.
