I was driving around in my friends jetta tonight...he has one of those 1.8T with an aftermarket comp chip...and this maxima was sitting behind us at a light...next thing u know it he is side by side....i look at him and i knew it was on
we get up to about 85 and the maxima just flew by us...we couldnt catch up to him till we hit the next light...haha made me wish i had my max..

 

haha that is awesome....guess I cannot say that I am sorry you lost. Them maximas got some ballz.

 

1.8 is half the engine we have. What did you expect. Yeah, it's a turbo but come on...

 

Yeah those 1.8T's can put out like 350WHP really easily so I wouldn't preech that they're half our engine. With the chip they're making 200 Fly HP. Throw intake, exhaust, intercooler, ecu, upgrade turbo and you're putting down like 250 WHP.

 

Brian is right. You should not underestimate those 1.8t's. A friend of mine has an Audi A4 1.8TQM. When it was stock, it was a dog, slow as heck. Since then, he has chip it, with a few usual bolt ons, and upgraded to a bigger turbo. It kicks butt! He's making over 300hp easily. Even if I get a supercharger, I don't think I can take him. Audi and VW cars are also usually "detuned" coming fromt the factory. I wouldn't mind getting one, but it's a big cramped, the A4 is a bit smaller than my Maxima. The new A4, however, is bigger and even stronger than the old one.

 

Sure they can. But then why did a Maxima smoke him? I guess even though he had the chip and a lighter car, something was wrong.

 

Maxima could have smoked him for many reason.. the driver was better? it was two of them in the Jetta so now the jetta is the same weight, Maxima Mods are unknown.. you know that little blue bottle does wonders for cheap.. could be SC.. who knows..

1.8T when chipped are evil.. some guy had a Chipped 1.8T Golf at Etown running 14.2 ..

 

The first feature on www.performanceix.com was a 1.8T havily modified. It's still there, archived.

 

them s4 are fast also and a chip adds like 50 hp to that thing.
