I already have a white 95' GLE with 130,000 miles, which is too many miles. I went to Carmax the other day, and they had a 95' or 96' gxe MANUAL (I really want a 5-spd) with 80,000 miles, blue-ish color. The thing is I've been spoiled by my max, this other one doesn't have a CD player, leather, climate control, etc. But whatever. It's about $10,500. I found another max, white 95' SE 5-spd, with 100,000 and is also about $10,500. I would rather get the SE of course, but I'm thinking 100,00 miles is too many. But then again, 80,000 is a lot too. I really want a car to mod, but if I get one with high miles, I worry about me spending thousands on it, and then it breaks down or somethin. Basically, I'm asking which I should buy, or if I should just...wait for a better deal that doesn't have so many miles. Well, what are your opinions?

I don't know what your budget is, but I would try and get a 95-96 SE 5spd(their the fastest year 4th gens) with lower miles. Do these 2 cars have a fairly new clutch in them? How about breaks, shocks and struts? Wait for a nice 95-96 SE 5spd with lower miles. Check around your area for one on the Net.

Too Many????????????? Interesting

All I know is people talk about low mileage cars etc etc...but the real question is...who how where was the miles put on...I wouldn't mind a country car with all highway miles...but a city drag raced non maintained low mileage car is just as bad as anything....So don't judge a book by it's cover it's plenty of high milage maxes with good compresion so don't take less miles as being better maintained or easy going miles...check the overall history...

I am in IA and 95-96 Max GXEs sell for around 6-8500 here. I agree with the post above-mileage is subjective as it depends on how the miles were put on. For example I drive lots of hwy miles and my 95 max with 102,000 still has the original brakes... You could always buy my max....

I got my '97 GXE with 40K miles for 10,500 its a stick shift, no accidents, really clean... but it had sum scratches... and it has NOTHING inside... hold out, 10.5 is kinda high for a 95-96 but 80K isnt too much haha i saw some 97's with 130K
make sure you use www.autotrader.com or some other online car search... the dealers near me were quoting 18K for '97 SEs... it will take some time but its worth the wait...
