How to get rid of P0446

is the code P0446 a dealer code? meaning can only the dealer clear it? I replaced the sensors the FSM points to be the problem but the code doesn't go away. any suggestions? Thank you

What does the code say? did you reset the ecu after replacement?

yea i did ... it just keeps coming back even though i replaced the sensors

the code is P0446 which translates to 0903 ... the FSM says it's for Evaporative Emission Canister Vent Control Valve. I changed the valve and I also changed the pressure sensor(boost sensor) ... after this I reset the ECU using a OBDII scanner ... but the damn code keeps coming back

check the lines going to the valve. you might have a leak

u know now that u mention that ... I do hear a hissing sound when driving next to parked cars at a slow speed ... I'll check on that and post back ... thanx alot

You probably have a small leak in the Cannister. The system is not pressurizing, and the cannister will need to be replaced. Also blow out any potential charcol from the hoses.

96 maxima's have a recall out from a while ago for this...it prevented passing inspections because of the light...not sure if your car has had it done yet, but its free and its done by the dealer...I believe the campaign id was PNC P8132...if you call the dealer can look it up and find out for you....i had the same thing but my plug into the canister was broken once i fixed that it never came back
