Cattman headers.

IIRC you should expect about 20whp over stock header/ypipe configuration and you might have to pull the engine.

the y-pipe is different for the header/y-pipe combo... and you don't have to pull the engine.

They are pricey...worth it tho. Good gains when you do new headers back. You probably wont have to pull the engine from what I've read from other org guys (Chefasaurus being one of them haha). But it isnt a simple job.

Alright, I said "maybe" because I couldn't remember exactly. But it's a pain to get 'em in I think.

They're about $800.

correct me if im wrong, but isn't just installing a y-pipe by itself good for 15-20hp, so if you are putting this $800 worth of parts on, could it just be the y-pipe part of the combo making the power and the headers not doing much???

I just thought most of the org. info said that headers for a 4th gen don't do much...

With headers your looking at 3-5 hp gain. Most of the power will come from the y-pipe anywhere from 15-20 hp

Ypipe itself makes about 12-15whp. Headers make about 20whp. Obviously about 15 of those 20whp come from the free flowing ypipe/lack of precats, and the other 5 or so come from the freer-flowing and equal-length design of the headers.

From what I've read headers do not do that much in the 4th gen unless you of the exhaust redone as well. Doesnt matter how much air is being pushed through the headers if it cant escape through the exhaust right? I get confused listening to everyone talk about hp because it's usually a different number. Some say more, some say less.

it prolly helps that the headers and the y-pipe in the above post flow well when used together-as they were designed to work together...

Yes and they are also equal-length when used together, which also helps.

cattman headers are really expensive. they look really great, but overpriced imo. also, that really nice polished look will only last so long. the heat from the engine will discolor them within hours.
i have headers, ypipe and full catback. i love my setup. the only downfall is that i couldnt get to the rear header. i had to take off the rear motor mount and cross member and drop the engine down to get the rear header off. oh and if you break one of the bolts on your block, good luck getting another one. if you are not sure on how to do the install 100% or you are not completley confident you know exactly what youre doing, bring it to a shop. get it done right. theyre gonna charge you with like 5 to 6 hours of work. so if money isnt a problem, youre lookin at a couple grand to get 20 hp. i dont think its worth that much if you ask me. but i did it myself and it was worth it for me.

Y pipe is where the bulk of the power lies in 4th gen becuz of the pre-cats, they give u about 10 -15hp. I think headers and exhaust probably give only 5hp each. Thas y I refuse to pay over a G combined for those parts. You can actually notice the difference after 3500 rpm up until the redline. I dont think u can hardly notice that much from exhaust or catback from what I heard the from my boys.

equal length headers also sound amazing, imo. if money wasn't an issue, i would definitely buy these. but since it quite a bit to drop just on exhaust componente, i would go with just the y-pipe and call it a day.

Nothing. Your going to have to use hight temp paint and header wrap to keep the engine temperatures low. So even though they look nice your going to have to cover them to make sure temps are low to achieve optimal performance.

the picture of the Cattman system in post #1 clearly shos they have some sort of coating on them, if they were bare metal they would not look like that...
also they would have to be aluminized, Ceramic Coated, or SS or they would rust within a week of installation. wrapping your aftermarket headers/pipes will usually void the warranty b/c it usually makes them rust FASTER.

and what does ss have to do with lowering the temps in the engine? It needs to have ceramic coating or header wrap to keep engine temps from getting high.
