Jammed sunroof. How do I fix it?

I haven't had the time to open up my ceiling to see if I can fix the jammed sunroof without replacing the rails.

Trademotion.com sells the rails for a freaking $700 dollars!!!

Is there a cheaper way to do this or a cheaper way to get the part?

Please help!! It is so pointless having a sunroof and not being able to open it!

Well if it's jammed it doesnt flat out mean that you need new rails. if you can open the headliner you might be able to see...But I have no idea really. Gotta get in there to see.

It's amazing that guys have such a need to talk when they have really nothing to say. Someone should refund his 2¢.

Take a look in the How To's at - http://forums.maxima.org/showthread....4&page=1&pp=40

Also, I believe that Nissan sells a kit, SUNROOF REPAIR KIT PN: 91350-40U20. Less than $100 when I bought it. It should have the cables and linkage that are subject to failure (but not the motor). The glass, rails, etc., don't usually fail. It's a beech of a job (i.e., time-consuming), but can be done by one guy using resonable intelligence and care, with a minumim of tools. And you'll need to pull and remove the headliner and many interior trim pieces.
Check your fuse if the motor's not working, and if it's shot, check with one of the guys (like fanaticrockford) who sell parts from cars they're parting out.

All I meant was that I'm not there to see his actual perdicament. And I said to look under the headliner. Just what you said.

Like I said the first time, "It's amazing that guys have such a need to talk......."
Oh, forget it.

repair kit is your best option

Part #91350-40U20 about $80 from a dealer and 3 hours of work. Just had that done this summer.

Call the junk yard. When mine went bad, i was able to get an entire sunroof assembly, glass included, for 325. On mine, the motor just randomly got jammed. When i took out the motor assembly, it had ripped off half the teeth on the gear. I ended up replacing the whole track and reused my glass. Everything is still working great after 5 years. Like Curt said, it takes patience, a little intelligence and a lot of time.

Check out this pdf, the kit is used to rebuild your sunroof assembly in case the motor is running but the sunroof is jammed. So if you can hear the motor running but can't open or close the roof, this kit will have everything that you can possibly need.
