uhhohhh no gas guage

Ok so i took my guages out to add some leds in the needles and used some sand paper to grind the black off the sides. Well when doing this the gas needle moved ofcoarse and i did not remember to put it back in place when i put dash back together so when i noticed on my way back from work. I opened it and put it back where i remembered it was last now i did that and it stayed in place so when i came back outside the needle dropped at about the 6-7 o'clock position and will not realign itself. Now my question here is did i break it and need to buy a new guage or what can i do to fix this problem

not much first hand experience with the needle adjustments, but I would try adjusting the needles again to where they should have been ,and see what happens.

You have driven the car some since this happened right? so the guage would have been at a lower place that where you reset it to.

You might end up buying another guage cluster and pulling out the gas guage and installing it onto yours.

Yeah I've read that if the needle is moved incorrectly it could totally f up the gauge. I'm not sure if it means its shot tho. How'd the led's work btw?

... not the ecu.. the sensor that... well senses how much gas you have...

find a 98 or 99 cluster.. with near or same miles... then just re wire.. jsut get the FSM from g20.net and you can do it .. 95% of the wires are the same color .... between them.. then the rest are easy to figure and the ones left over are for ground so.. its a project...

make shure you get the plug that plugs into the back of the 98-99 cluster all 3 of them

check car-part.com and buy a guage cluster and use the gas portion of it. There is a sender unit in the gas tank that will tell the guages how much fuel is in there. You just need to replace the guage, if resetting it again doesnt work.

i've moved my gas gauge before, but it always resets itself when I plug it back in. There is a thread here that explains calibration mode, I'll see if I can find it....

EDIT: just realized you have a '95, no calibrate mode for you.

Why don't you try filling up the tank and see if it moves then?

Good thought. Maybe the sensor's stuck and needs more gas in the tank.
