Dude just drive the car its a good trip and you get to see alot of beautiful places on the way.

 

Drive it. Max is great for driving long distance. I had a road trip with 2000+ miles. It was great fun.

 

Must agree, drive it. I have 3 good friends who bought used cars in college and had them shipped home from school ( New mexico from Albany, California from Albany, and Virginia from Albany.) Suspiciously enough, all three cars started experiencing problems that they didn't have have before the ship, and 2 of them had visible damage, of which one is still an ongoing legal matter (a rather noticeable dent with a scratched line down the length of the driver side). Point is, most people don't like driving long distances. But a maxima makes it fun. DRIVE.

 

1,000 miles and change is not a long distance. It strikes me that anyone who wouldn't jump at the chance of such a road trip is a wimp and is fundamentally afraid to drive outside the confines of their comfort zone, ie. proximity to home. Stand up and be a man for once in your life, lol!

I say drive it to Miami, whats the point of having a car you can't drive - make sure to stop at different places and enjoy the scenery

 

Two months ago I drove mine from southern PA to Ontario Canada towing a bass boat and a lot of gear with 215K on the clock. No problems.

Drive it! For all the reasons stated above....

However, not all transport companies are bad.

We transport cars (exotics and such). They are hauled on polished wood floors, no ramps or chains are ever used.....We cover them with cloth/felt covers, then top that with plastic....I assure you, transport damage isn't always a given!!!! We also carry oodles of insurance, enough to cover a beautiful max......

Drive because you can't enjoy the scenery from 30k feet in the air.

thanks for all the advice, a buddy of mine from Miami told me to call him up when I decide to go so that he can come up here (Indiana) and we can trek it down there together in the MAX, i'll make sure to get a full maintenance inspection and check EVERYTHING before I leave, I don't expect any problems since it has been running good for a while now. I'll even put in a Y-Pipe for the trip to make the drive more fun

 

Good man! I recommend the Budget stainless steel y-pipe. That is what I am running on my 95SE. There were no fitment issues and no bees in the can whatsoever and you'll love the butt dyno effect. I don't have an intake as I am not into noise, so I have mine coupled with a K&N panel filter and it works for me.

 

it'll be fine. i have 170k on my 95 and took it from CT to NC and back again within 2 weeks. over 5000miles total for the trip and the car performed great. no problems what so ever. plus.. $800 put into the car is alot more worth it than shipping. right decision... driving is FUN!!

The question you should ask if do you have the time or money? if you have the time but not the money, then it. If you have the money but not the time then ship it.

 

I say drive it down there. Last year i had 145k on mine drove it from Cleveland OH to miami, this year 158k drove it from Cleveland to Panama City Beach. No problems what so ever both times with 3 people in the car, sound system, and luggage

Few years ago I moved from CA to BC and I was debating the same thing. Ended up I pack all my stuff (books, clothing, computer with 17" CRT monitor...) and drove here. After I unload all the stuff, the rear suspension took 2 full days to get back to stock height. Oh... I was still able to do 110mph on I-5...

My suggestion to you? Dump all the unneccssary stuff, like old megazines, old kitchen-ware; then ship all the books and heavy stuff via Greyhound; pack light and space-taken items like blanket & clothings in the trunk and take a joyful drive with the Max.

 

drive from indy eastward on I70 until you get to I79, then go south.. from the flats to the mountains.. it's gonna be a fun trip...

 

$800 to ship, at the most $200 to drive... I'd drive it!!!

a maxima isn't a maxima for anything, it can do anything and everything, definately drive it bro

 

I've done both. If you tow the car get a 4 wheel dolly and not the 2 wheel. Also it is a flat rate for the truck and dolly but you are going to spend a ton on gas as the trucks are gas and not diesel. Also most of the Uhaul type companies will match prices so call around.

Drive unless you have to haul a ton of stuff and need a big truck. Get AAA if you are worried about mechanical and bring a good cellphone and cash for emergency repairs.

 

I don't know your circumstance, but if i was in a similar position I would give the MAX a good drive. Nice scenary along the way, and also highway miles are not bad for the car as regular driving. Be a man and take the road.........

 

ROAD TRIP!!! need i say more? and besides 4th gens run to 200k easy.. you'll have no problem getting there.
