Exide Orbital. Better than an optima...and cheaper, too.

I'm checking out lawn/tractor batteries this weekend. What kind of CCA do I need? Will it stay charged if it is off for awhile (say the off-season for auto-X and drag).

I'm running only 275 or 300cca (can't remember) in my wal-mart tractor battery. Its the biggest tractor battery they sell at my wal-mart. Its my daily driver, so it doesnt see more than a long weekend of sitting. I think the maxima electronics (security system maybe) draw down the battery while the car is sitting, which could be a problem for longer storage periods. My riding mower usually starts right up in the spring though, if that's any help. For reference, i always ran one of these tractor batties (275cca) in my neons, they lasted 2+ years and even then started the car fine at -15F on one occasion. Granted that was a 2.0 vs the maxima 3.0, so we'll see how it does this winter.

Dude what are you talking about? When I read your post, I think you are asking, "Which battery can I start my car with and run my stereo?" Any battery can do that. Please be more specific

The C/S Rep from Optima suggested that I get a 75/25 which has a CCA of 720amps and the 34 has a CCA of 800amps.

Does it matter if I get a 34 with 800amps?

Why not get a Miata battery instead?

AND whats your favorite! DONT let the two questions fool ya.

i need a new battery soon, i dont want to spend to much, but i dont put 100% faith into consumer reports - tho i do look.

i would really like an optimum battery but too expensive, what are its downfalls anyways?

those lightweight batteries are nice, but i dont really want to lighten the load much yet.

A battery is a battery. I went for weight reduction.

not knocking anyone's sale , but a used battery is a used battery. red top, gold top, platinum top it dont matter. if it needs to be charged it's probably dead or on its way out, so save your money and buy a good inexpensive battery.
