I'm buying the Budget Y-pipe this week, and then will highly consider the rest of the exhaust components...


But on my 99, there's this little 6-8" extension piece that connects from the cat to the B-pipe... what is out there to replace it?


It looks like it's 2 1/2" at the inlet, but when it makes its bend, it looks like it drops down to nearly HALF of that. WTF?


Does the Budget y-pipe and test pipe replace all that?

First thing make sure you know if your Cali spec or not.

As for the extension, don't worry about that. If you buy a Cat back later it will cover all that.

The budget Y and cat will replace exactly that, the y and the cat. That extension is on the bpipe

but this pertains to the courtesy b-pipe. i havent heard of any of these issues with the budget b-pipe.i have this horrible restriction on my 98 i30t, but its not calispec. i went to my local middas shop and they said they could make a peice to replace it with 2 1/4 or 2 1/2 pipe with an o2 bung for about 30 bucks, but i plan on buying a bundget b-pipe so i havent done it yet. the only thing im worried about is where to put the o2 sensor. does the budget have a place for it?

 

Almost all cat backs or B pipes replace that pipe. They have an O2 bung just behind the cat already in their B pipes.

BTW the inlet of the s pipe is almost 3", IIRC its a tic over 2.75". It then squeezes down to 2"ish.

 

Not to hijack this thread, but the question will apply. After the y-pipe and b-pipe install, does the ECM need to be reset?
