Applo_1's Maxima UPDATE

Hey those of you who remember me. (Yea the Maxima that looked like the hulks little brother as someone put it) I have all of the parts accept the right fender, hood and front lip. BUT thats not what I want to talk about. I want to know if I should get 5 speed tranny swap and put a turbo on it or go for some more major work and get a 2jz twin turbo (1995 supra )

As for the cars over all progress pics will be here in about 2 weeks! Don't want to give to much away haha.

Well you definately aint making the car rwd. Waste of time and money. Just get a vq35 and add turbo with a 5 speed vlsd trans. Can also get the same power a twin turbo puts out.

which leaves me wondering....if the JWT twin turbo setup can be adapted to fit into a maxima? The tubing would need to be completely changed to put the intercoolers on the side, but is there enough room after the 3.5 swap? 3.5 swappers chime in. Is there more or less room in the engine bay after the swap?

really no need.....twin turbos are smaller....one turbo is bigger....the only real advantage it twins are spool time....the power oputput all depends on the set up....so meh

right, generally one of the turbos is a bit smaller to decrease or eliminate the amount of lag. One small turbo running low psi would be great. That way, stock equipment could be used. I've always wanted to try this, but lack of a vlsd, and 250k miles makes me change my mind.

Alright, clearly the best option here is to take the Skyline motor and rig it up inside the trunk, you get better weight distribution and a rear wheel drive. Thats a win-win in my book.

only is a sequential setup which the Supra happens to be....Skyline or 300zx are not.....sequentials are quite complicated and a waste.....all u need is a ball-bearing turbo proberly sized for ur particualr application and u get the best of both worlds...minimal lag and nice HP numbers

I say go for it and let us know when you are out of money and want to part out

Seriously you dont want to spend that much money. The motor in there is fine right? If its not broke, dont fix it. Leave it be. Stay with the autotragic for a while. Spend the least amount of money as possible. There are soo many people on the .org that pour money into their cars..(myself included..I lost track of where all my money went..) Just get her up n running well. She is already going to look nice, green or not, and call it a day

2jz is god, I don't care what you say. .

Supra's 780whp at 34lbs of boost. 1/4 mile in 9.8@290MPH and a dyno chart that looks like a Nike swoosh. Can't beat it!!

LOLz @ Nike swoosh.

I personally like the FD3S chassis with the 2JZ motor. Sickness overload!

In all seriousness though. Since this thread is basically going to hell, and is about wasting tons of money.

Guess I'll keep it semi-on topic.

Any of you seen the guy (I believe it was on Honda-Tech), who dropped a LS1 into his Prelude. Pretty wild swap, but he seriously could have just bought himself a Fbody and have been done with it. See if I can find the link.

edit: here's the link. http://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1645997&page=1

After looking at that thread, I think I'll just sell the max once its complete and just find another car that can go zoom zoom.

ya seriously its not worth the money, just get a VQ3.5, and turbo it up, it will be a WHOLE lot cheaper than the Supra engine
