Low idle, 200->400 RPM's

Just a couple questions from something I ran into today:

(MORE BULLETS!!)
  • Is there a way to fix my Gasoline Gauge? / Are they known to read wrong?
  • Would an idle of about 500-600RPM's with dips into 200-300 possible be due to dirty TB/Fuel Injector/Low Oil?
  • ^^^ Rather what could cause that? heh

I was at about a 1/4 tank today, I usually fill up with 92/93 octane gas, and as I came to a stop the car suddenly started feeling like it was going to stall, never did but came damn close.

Then after I got somewhere got out, came back, it would turn over about 10-15 times, then make a higher pitch 10-15 more times and finally start. Got some gas back up to full from 1/4 tank (It took 13 and some change gallons) drove about 20 miles, and its A OK now, but I wanna just make sure everything's fine.

At the end of this vid is an idea of what the tach was doing with the dipping, this vid is for someone (I forget who) who wanted to hear the sound a stock everything made with a PRCAI.

Well a faulty IACV can cause the idle to drop but mine was a lot worse than yours is.

Yea, it suck huh. I have the same problem. It's even better when your car stalls out going around turns and you loose your power steering. I don't know what is causing it. My rpms drop way down when im in D and step on the gas then have to quickly stop by pressing my brake. It feels like the car is going to stall out since the rpms get to around 200. I don't know what causes this, others have the same prolblem, and some point to the engine harness.

Mine does it no matter how much gas I have in my tank. I have a bad EGRC Valve Selinoid.

I have this problem every once in a while, my Mazda did this all the time. So I guess I have become used to it. But a fix would be nice.

This thread is re-started and continued here:

http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=505216

It's much more detailed than this one and has pictures of the IACV and video's of the RPM dropping to see if it's like yours.

Two things to try and fix are: TPS and PCV. I'll update this weekend once I've changed them.

clean your IAC Valve. Just did a guys car from nycmaximas.org. before we went to go get the supplies it was @ ~2-3oo rpms and would float up and down. When i was done, was a steady 600 in drive with foot on the brake. do not leave it as low rpms lead to low oil flow, low alt output and more strain on the PS (at idle of course).

Well it doesn't idle around 2-300 it just dips into there, like it was gonna die and catched itself, or it will just die, but when it does idle, it idles ok

could be your throttle position sensor. I would clean the valve first. if it continues, then check or change the throttle position sensor.
