Weird grinding noise in the rear

Hey....a year ago i always heard this faint noise coming from the rear of the car....I usually noticed it at lower speeds and turning....anyways, it was really faint...and when I tried driving people to hear it with me, obviously it never made the noise...Anyways, the year went by and it got louder and louder....now people can hear it....it sounds like something is grinding....its not the breaks cause we took it to 2 mechanics and they said "don't worry about it" and didn't bother explaining the problem...one said "something is wearing out, maybe the shocks in the back, or some other joint" no need to worry...

so im thinking...this mechanic doesnt even want my money to pretend to fix something, so this really must be something not to worry about...maybe it will go away when completely worn out? But it still bugs me and I'd rather get rid of it...i have 300,000 kilometers...and this noise occurs not when im using breaks (when im using breaks too) so i dont think its the breaks...anyone? anything?

thnx in advance

Break != Brake

My first guess is a sticking caliper, they are very common.

Could be rotor splash shield.

Could be a rear wheel bearing problem but I'm not sure it would make that noise.

its been so long though...if it were break, wouldn't have worn out by now?

and the mechanics who told me "dont worry about it"....if it had been a break....they were were grease monkeys, no offence to anyone...and would take my money for nothing then....u know wat i mean? if it were breaks, i think they woulda done something

BRAKES it's spelled BRAKES.

It doesn't matter if it is worn down, it could be the metal behind the meat of the pad scraping the rotor. If it is on and off it could be sticking from time to time and not seized completely.

BTW- ANYTHING back there is easy, so by saying that they don't care doesn't make it a non-issue. If there's noise, it isn't right.

-Thanks Apparition.
