evap code - bogging and running rough

I got an evap code a while ago and the problem was the engine would bog for a few minutes and then it'd run normal again. Well now the engine has been bogging for two days and hasn't started running normally gain. Someone told me I could stick a pin through the evap thingy, where is this and what does it look like or is this not the right fix? I read somewhere someone said it was as easy to replace the engine as it was to remove the evap canister. thanks for any help

I had the evap purge control valve problem. Ended up replacing the canister b/c there was a crack and it wasnt holding pressure. The part should cost you $150 and its not that hard to change. The dealer will rip you a new one to diagnose, and most shops will tell you to take it to the dealer for an evap code. Try replacing that first. I got ripped $625 at the dealer for this, but I had no choice, my inspection failed. My car was stalling and running rough.

a bad evap valve can cause a lean mixture in your vechile that could in return cause start up and rough conditions.

the evap is normally clogged with carbon build up thru the charcoal canister, i've seen it many times. cleaning the evap valve won't do anything as i've tried. just for amusement, confirm you gas cap is tight, i've seen some cases where that can throw your evap code.

I've had an evap code forever, have zero startup or running rough issues.

I got code 01 11.

I replaced the Canister, and the valve on the canister. Still have the darn code. I may need to replace control valve in engine bay, and purge valve in engine bay.
