Resistance on Crankshaft Position Sensor

Hey guys. Im wondering if anyone knows what the Ohm resistance should be on the Crankshaft Position Sensor. Im having a problem getting my car to start. First i though it was the remote start that was installed on my car. Now im beginning to think its something else.

The car cranks, but wont fire. It smells like a gas tanker. The smell of gas is almost overwhelming. I asked the nissan tech if he know what the condenser was suppose to be and he didnt know what it was. So i skiped that and the next thing the FSM told me to check was the Crankshaft position sensor. I compared it to my dads and its way off. Im getting a resistance of 1.419k Ohm. On my dads 00 I was getting 2.8xxk Ohm.

can anyone point me in the right direction? Any help would greatly be appricated.

-Sean

would this cause the car to not start and smell like gas and backfiring while cranking?

Who cares, replace it and call it good.

Think of where it's located, I'd hate to live there if I was a sensor.

how exactly did you test it? I got the exact same rating that you did on your dads car 2.8XX ohms. do you have a 0905 / p1336 code? I just bought a new sensor because i wasnt getting the 470 -500 ohms, but it still didnt fix the issue (although my car wasnt running rough at any time other than an occational start up sputter)

I checked it with a multimeter. I pretty much touched the leads on the meter to the prongs on the sensor. Tested it on the Ohm setting. I tested both my dad and moms 00 and both read about 2.8xx or so. Mine was way off. Im not pulling any code. the car has been dead for a day. i first thought it was an improperly installed remote start, but that is 80% out of the question.

When my harness got beat up, I didn't have to get quantitative data. It was so ripped up, I could just see it was bad. That and my sensor was reading fine...within spec.
