I have the same issue, except the reverse lights are not on the inspection list for NC. Two suggestions I have heard are:
1. Fuses
2. Transmission switch on the tranny case. I've been warned that the tranny should be drained b4 removing the switch. You may have to check with a dealer. Gwinnet Nissan is a good source. I have a 5-speed.

I'm assuming you have an automatic so if that's the case, I'm not sure how it looks on that.

Hi there Soundwoy thanks for the reply ..I do have a five speed and I know it is the switch at the tranny and yes drain the fluid or tilt the car in a way tha the left side is way up ..I google it and only one place came up that has it but I'm not sure if it is the same switch cause they call it neutral safty switch i can'y remember what the manual calls it ...I must warned you if you want to do it have the switch on hand cause it will break and make sure you grab the little copper thingy ..I have taken my tranny out so many time that i can do it with my eyes close ...

Thanks again .

Thanks. I checked the Gwinnet Nissan Website and they have a "backup switch" listed for $18.50. Go to http://www.nissanpart4u.com/oem_parts.html
Select year and make, then model. Then select ELECTRICAL, then CHASSIS ELECTRICAL then SWITCHES. It'll be the first item listed. I'll be getting one next week.
