I actually did some MAJOR research on this. All the O2 sensors are the same. But honstly I wouldnt go with the universal crap. They are really ****ty compared to Bosch 02 sensors. Honstly, spend the extra $$. It's worth it.

Do you have a FSM? It might be in that. If not I'll check when I get back to my dorm tonight and see what I can find.

Why did you post that here? It has nothing to do with 02 sensors.

I just did my front-right O2 sensor. Since I'm a cheap bastard, I went with the beck-arnley universal off of ebay. It cost me 20 bucks shipped compared to 70-100 for a direct fit. It was a three wire sensor since it has a heating element built in. having a direct fit would have saved me a bit of time, but it wasn't too bad.
I'm not too concerned about super high quality and lifetime since my max has 193k miles on it. I just want stuff that works.
If you do go the universal route, get some heat shrink tubing from the hardware store to cover up the splice connectors. that worked nicely.

What code did you get from your ECU? I had a 04-09 code.

You're O2 sensors are pretty important....you should want high quality, it works. It works better then the ebay crap. The extra money is worth it.

p0130 is a general malfunction of the front-right oxygen sensor. It's the one sticking out of the passenger's side of the exhaust manifold. if you turn your wheels and look into the wheel well on the passenger side you'll see it sticking straight out of the manifold. You'll need to get under the car to change it though.

the camshaft sensor is attached to the right side of the engine almost even with the oil filler cap. The factory service manual says that you can do a resistance test on the sensor. it only has two terminals.
resistance should be:
1400-1700 ohms
or
2000-2500 ohms
depending on the brand of the sensor.
you should get the manual (there are links to downloads around on the forum) it has a full testing procedure for that sensor (and every other one). You should probably read that before you try anything.

I'll tell you what... if it fails in under 50k miles, I'll buy you a soda.

Recently, my gas mileage took a serious hit, but no codes showed up on the diagnostics. KS was fine as were the other parts of the car. No gas leaks. I also noticed that my car ran better when cold and worse when reaching operating temperature.

O2 sensors are off-line when cold, so if they could be sending out faulty AF readings when warm, and that might explain the drop in mileage and performance.

I toyed with the idea of using universals, but was consistently talked of of it. I thought about having my existing sensors tested thoroughly, but when i learned that O2 sensors can go bad without sending out any codes, I decided to just replace them all.

First of all, I doubt it they were every replaced. I've got 135K on the car, so it's about time.

Secondly, if they were the cause of the mileage drop, then I will recoup the expense of them by the improvement in gas mileage i'll get.

I replaced all three with Bosch direct-fit. I paid, with shipping, a total of $160.

The car runs a lot better, but i'll have to do a mileage check to confirm

The cheapest I have seen them in regular parts stores ranged from $67 to $79. The retail price is like $129.

The rear sensor is cheaper than the fronts...although I do not know why if the sensors are the same (except for wire length), front and back.

You can find quality on eBay -- but you have to go looking for it and find a seller with a perfect (or near perfect) feedback score. I bought brand new, OEM Bosch O2 sensors on eBay from two different sellers (each with feedback scores over 99%).

I paid $41 (shipping included) for the rear sensor (which was being sold on a regular auction), and $59.50 (shipping included) for each of the two front sensors (which were "Buy it Now" items). Actually, only one of the front sensors was being sold in the "Buy it Now" auction, but after I asked the seller if I could buy two at the same price, he created a "Buy it Now" ad just for me.

Not every seller will do that. I bought two NGK Iridium IX plugs (at $5.50 each) that one seller had for sale. I sent him an email asking him if I could buy four more at the same price, but I have not heard back from him. What I probably will have to do is sell these two and buy a set of six from another seller (who has a comparable unit price when you divide the total by six).

**update** Seller with the NGK plugs offered to sell me all six for $36 (shipping inc.). Not bad. That's $6 a plug shipped.

If ytou would like to know who are these sellers, I can post them.

how difficult is it to remove the o2 sensor? I'm going to put in my Ypipe this weekend and want to know if I need special tools.

what are you talking about, most of your ebay ones are bosch sensors they are just a universal bosch. Look at it before you post, It is the same ones you can get in autostores. Universal is not bad, they are mad easy to hook up. You have black and gray and white wires and just match them up with with the same colors on the factory harness.. It is real easy unless you are insanely color blind.

I replaced my O2s when I was 100K on the odometer... bought all four of them from www.ngk.com. Reasonable prices and the best part it comes with connectors, no rewiring etc. needed.!!!

Good luck and I have good results with the NGK O2 sensors. OEM Bosch was way out my budget.!!!

There are 2 at the front (one closed to the radiation and other the firewall) and 1 at the rear (after the cat). The front ones are performance related and should be changed if you have code(s) or experience significant mileage drop. You could replacement the rear one when it is no longer functional.
