auto tranny failing? (w/ VB mob)
jus noticed today while i was driving that the car was not shifting into gear when i was leaving from a stop or light...tranny would go into neutral while in D at a light, and not be in gear when i wanted to go, had to rev to like 2500 to get it to go and then it would go with a jerk...stopped to check the tranny fluid and guess what, it was EMPTY!! refilled it, car drove fine for a lil while (hour or so on and off) and then the same problem started up again, to a slightly lesser extent but still evident, and i was in manhattan when this all occured on my way home to queens, lots of stop and go.
the car is a 97 with 137k miles, only bolt on mods, VB mod (4 years ago at 75K) with replaced solenoids at that time...car does sit low, and had bottomed out once or twice, but nothing that sounded too bad...also, recently refreshed the tranny fluid as well in june...no major repairs otherwise
does this mean my tranny is failing? is it too late? can she be cured without having to be replaced? im taking it to my mechanic tomorrow morning to see what theyre gonna say after checking it out...whats a normal price for the worst case scenario here?
