Cattman cat-back installed

I installed the cattman muffler a few weeks ago and decided it was too quiet so I just installed the cattman b-pipe today to complete the cat-back. It sounds great. I don't think there is a better cat-back out there for maximas. I haven't heard any other cat-back for maximas that put out a sound as good as the cattman. I did expect it to be louder than it is. Even with a y-pipe it's not too loud. It seems that the low end drone didn't really get any louder at WOT but now it screams past 2900 rpms which it didn't really do before the b-pipe was installed. Before I put the b-pipe in, the sound seemed to disappear after 2900 rpms with just the muffler. When you accelerate lightly, it isn't that loud at all. Not loud enough to bother me at least. When cruising on the highway at 70+ mph, I can't hear it at all. So it really gets loud only when you want it to but other than that it's pretty quiet for the most part. I'll try to get some sound clips this weekend. If anyone is thinking of picking this system up, get it and you won't regret it. If slight droning bothers you and you are looking to be a bit quieter then i'd say go for the greddy sp2 since it hardly has any drone and is really quiet unless you get on it. But IMO this is the nicest sounding exhaust for the 4th gens.

I have a warpspeed y-pipe. If I go out to my friends place this weekend then i'll post a clip of it. Eventually I want to pick up cattmans headers but I have other performance mods I want to get done first since the headers are mainly for sound over the y-pipe but after hearing ceasars clips, I think it would be well worth it. In case anyone is interested in performance gains, I picked up 9 hp and 7 torque after the installation of the cattman cat-back and a new knock sensor. I dynoed 177.15 hp and 185.17 torque before I replaced my knock sensor and installed the cat-back. Today I dynoed 186.36 hp and 192.04 torque. Not bad at all for 214,000 miles. But it's still running a bit lean so i'll have to get it tuned. If I can figure out how to get this old school scanner my grandparents gave me to work then i'll post the before and after dynos.

I've got the cattman y-pipe and fast cat in my garage, waiting for the opportunity to get the cat back from Brian, then put it all on at once. Looking forward to it.

I love the sound of the Cattman catback. I had it put on when my car got into an accident and i couldn't be happier. At first it was a little louder than I thought but it eventually got better. All I need is the Cattman y pipe and fast cat to complete the whole thing.

There is definately a big difference with the b-pipe installed. It made a bigger difference than I thought it would. When I had just the muffler installed, it would quiet down a bit after 2900 rpms. But it was definately loud enough for someone to know it's not stock. With the b-pipe installed, it did just the opposite and now it's loud past 2900 rpms but the lower rpms pretty much stayed the same so it brought the sound out that I was looking for. At WOT it is loud. It is much louder outside the car than it sounds like it is inside the car. Me and a friend tried to record a video on our phones today and it just distorted the hell out of the sound cause it was so loud and that was from a distance away from the car. But as I stated in the first post it is only loud when you want it to be. When cruising around it is quiet for the most part and on the highway at 70 or above I don't even know it's there. Comparing it to the sp2, it is a bit louder. It definately has more low end drone than the sp2 but it's not anywhere near as bad as those civics you hear with straight pipes to the muffler. My friends sp2 isn't as loud as my cattman in the lower rpms. At WOT, the cattman is a bit louder than the sp2. The cattman gets pretty damn loud at WOT but I don't think it's loud enough to get you pulled over. The greddy also gets pretty loud but seems a bit quieter than the cattman. I just ordered a digital camcorder so I will take a video of it as soon as I get it. I'll also try to get my friend to come out here next weekend so we can do a side by side comparison of the cattman vs. sp2.

I made a video but it's a bit distorted. Disregard the second half of the video. My friend didn't stop the video when he was supposed to. I'll try to make a better one tomorrow.

well right now all i have is ypipe with stock cat back and muffler, you can notice a bit of a difference in sound below 2500rpm. after that you cant really hear it, if you stand at the back of the car you can tell something is different compared to stock.

I already had a PR CAI and a Budget Y pipe. I had the Cattman catback installed this evening. I have a few questions for those that have it. Is there any "break in" period and does it tend to get louder or quieter after that? For those with 95-96's, has anybody done anything to shorten it so it doesn't stick so far out from the bumper?

At first when I put the muffler in it was very quiet. After driving around for a while it got a bit louder. At first when I added the b-pipe it sounded exactly the same. I drove it around for about an hour and it got much louder. So i'm guessing yours probably sounds quiet now. It will get louder after driving around a bit. As far as the tip sticking out, i'm doing a 97-99 rear conversion. I personally wouldn't mess with the tip.

I was hoping for it to get quieter. I'm not a kid and don't care for the noise, I only wanted the performance gain. I guess it's something I'll have to live with for the sake of performance. Has anyone else been able to get it not to protrude so far behind the rear bumper of a 95-96?

Well my problem is half solved. I forgot that ti had the trunk pass through open with my OEM exhaust sticking through it on the ride home from the shop. DOH! Closing it cured the excessive drone problem. Sounds much better now. For any that want louder noise, you can just open the trunk pass through and then your car will be much louder.

From a performance standpoint, the "butt dyno" tells me that it revs quicker from about 3300 all the way to redline. It seems noticeably quicker. Now if I could just get the tip not to stick out so far...
