Just when I thought I fixed my CEL codes
My CEL has been on since 6 months after I first bought my max which was arouns september of 2004. Every time I fix one problem and reset the ecu, the CEL always comes back on within a week with something new. I was pulling the 0705 code which is the evap control system for a few months so I figured it was my gas cap since it always loosened itself between gas refills. I bought a new cap from nissan for $20 bucks and that code went away for a while. My knock sensor went bad so I replaced that last week and reset the ecu again. I was driving earlier on this week and noticed my damn CEL was on again. So I checked the codes today and I got 0705 again, 0302 (EGR problem), and 0707 (rear o2 sensor). My main concern is the egr code. I can replace the o2 sensor and I can deal with the evap code later on but the egr code is bugging me. I live in a strict emission state so I don't have the option to remove it. Has anyone else had to deal with the 0302 code? Anything specific I should check? Or is my egr probably shot being 214,000 miles old?

Yes I did just install the cattman cat-back but I don't think these codes are linked together. I'm gonna get under the car tomorrow to check the o2 sensor to make sure I didn't damage it by accident when installing the exhaust and shifter bushing. It doesn't make sense for it to be bad cause I replaced it less than a year ago. So even if I accidentally damaged the o2 sensor I don't see how the o2 sensor could throw an egr code.

EGR code might trigger an O2 code if the system has stopped working due to a clogged egr tube. Common among 4th gens... Take the egr system apart, clean and test all the components. 0302 is a flow related code, chances are good that it's a clogged egr tube causing it. If the egr system isn't working correctly, you can run rich, throwing an o2 code.

Thanks for the info. But could it be the other way around? Cause I have a feeleing I may have messed up the o2 sensor while I was installing my cat-back cause the light came on a day or 2 after the install. I could see the egr triggering an o2 code but I can't really see a bad REAR o2 sensor triggering an egr code. If anything i'll do what you said and clean out the system next week if the problem persists.
