Any other symptoms other than the "croak"? Slipping? Hard to get in gear?

Yes it does go away when the clutch pedal is in. when its idling there is a constitant knocking and when the cluch is pushed in it stopes and when I put it in gear and start to moove and the clutch is no longer engaged the sound gets louder and speeds up with the engine. There is no slipping. My friend told me today it might be a baring or something in the transmition coming loose?
Also I doubt that this is related but my engine seems to shutter when I use anything power espesialy the windows. When use the power window to roll the window up or down the lights also dim a little bit any idea what that might be or is it normal.

The knocking is most likely you're throw out bearing.. I went nuts with this on my other car.. it really sounded like the engine was knocking especially since it speeds up when you accelerate... it ended up being a worn out T/O bearing..

Took the car to the mechanic today and it is something to do with the barings in the trans. and its $1500. I am already in debt 400 dollars to my parents and who knows what my transmission is going to look like when the mechanic tears it appart because I am an idot sometimes and treat my car like ####. I ges thats what you get for taking it to the race track and beating it up around town. So the max is going to be put away for a while till i get the money and that is the worst fealing I have ever felt. I wish I had not been so stupid.

its not the throw out bearing. its the input shaft bearing! if its the throwout bearing it will make noise when your foot is off the clutch. there is a thread by nealoc187 that goes into great detail about the input shaft bearing.

I dont think my mechanic was talking about the throw out bearing for the clutch it has to do with one, a few, or all 6 of the bearings in the transmission.

if you have the transmission apart, you might as well get the differential carrier bearings replaced and re-shimmed. common problem on the 4th/5th gen 5spd
