Some times you gotta Megiver that sh*t

I'm still laughing but put a new exhaust on my car that will need haners welded on and some extra fab work to hold up my exhaust. the only support the catback has is at the y-pipe (pretty much the flex section), and a two of the rubber hangers at the very end of the car in front of the muffler.

In not wanting to drive my car with pretty much the exhaust dropping, I figured out a nice way to hold up the ehaust till I get it to the muffler shop.

Voila

I thought if I could put a metal cylindrical pipe thru there it should hold it up, but I was worried it might just slide out. In not wanting to buy such a piece, I was walking around my garage and saw my long wrench and figured I'd greese up each end and slide it in and see if it will hold. I kid you not, that is held in good and sturdy!

In short, when in doubt Megiver that sh*t.

Haha how does that work when driving? I'm installing my Cattman B friday and my hanger is gone....that would be an easy way to do it. Maybe a thin pipe with some heat tape would work as well haha.

I've yet to test it out when driving but I assume to hear minor clanks (it is metal on metal) sounds at times. I was just told autozone has some great haner maker tools there where you can basically make your own hangers nice and sturdy for your exhaust.

the way mine is held up, the two rubber pieces (if you still have those by your cat) the circular opening (what was circular) is where the wrench is going thru. I pushed up the exhaust so its resting on it. Should hold up pretty good till I rig up a permanent design.

Get a heater hose. Cut it shorter and then slice the middle and slip it over the wrench in between the wrench and exhaust.

For the rear bracket that holds the exhaust up. My hanger broke and well my exhaust would bounce off of that and well I put a piece of heater hose on it and it fixed it. When I installed my cattman exhaust the exhaust laid exactly on the bracket so much where you couldnt really put the bracket on. Slipped a piece of heater hose on and it fixed. Even though the rubber hanger is all squished up with the bracket being there. But atleast it keeps my exhaust from hanging low.

yea my rear bracket is broken (snapped the bolt) other wise I'd think about keeping the wrench. cut it shorter. scuff it, paint it black, hose clams on the rubber hanger parts for additional support . . .

getting ideas here. . .

What is that stuff from autozone you speak of? I would much rather fabricate something to hold my exhaust well instead of buying $60 hangers!

That should rattle the annoyance outta ya soon. I've had that done before, only it's a little different. Just trying out different things. LOL.

I found that wrench one day at work on the ups truck, so its free anyway

but this is a temp setup, like a few days at most, I have a better permanent solution in place but just needed something quickly so I could test drive my car without the exhaust getting ripped off.

I know its going to rattle like crazy. I do have some heater tube I can put over it so it will absorb bumps and noises that would be produced.

I like it. I would just put some black electrical tape around the wrench so it won't rattle or make noise...Good job!

Are you getting serious clanking? This is what i'm experiencing right now...it gets worse everyday. It sounds like the ypipe is hitting against something in the engine bay. Installed my pipe on Sunday using the original backet. The rubberband had to seriously stretch. I wonder if that's what causing the ypipe to rub against the engine bay. But then again...the ypipe does not flex!..well, only at the section where it meets the cat.

Do you think it'll be okay to drive without the bracket? I'm seriously thinking about taking the bracket our or just let it hang.

My exhaust pipe rattled after installing my hitch. I wrapped some 1" vinyl tubing around it where the hanger met the hitch and the rattle was gone.
