when i turn off my car it groans (fuel pump?)

I have noticed occasionally when i turn off my car it will make this groaning type noise in the rear. Sometimes i worry about my fuel pump just because im paranoid and i frequently drive my car with less than a quarter of a tank of gas. But the groaning sound sounds like a little compressor or something, it stops within a minute of the car turning off though.
Just being cautious...i dont want it failing on me.
Also, i get this hissing from under the car on cold start ups, not sure if that is fuel pump related either.

I had a similar sound SOunded like it was comming from under the rear seat. It ended up being the fuel pump. Mine went out while I was driving and it felt like the car was being choked to death. My friend had the same sound and has never had a problem. All I can figure is the pump is decompressing.

Yeah under the rear seat. I had a feeling that was what it was, I just didn't know if it was normal. I guess it kinda is normal? Either way I'm still paranoid since I'm at 140k and drive a lot...

My pump went out at about 130000. I installed a new pump and no more noise. I think it just has to do with age and the seals.

Very Easy.

Back seat clips out, Vaccum cleaner to vaccum the debris around the tank, 3 or 4 10mm bolts to take the cap off. take lines off, pull sending unit very carfully, unclip the pump and screan, reinstall.

**Work in a VERY VENTED AREA>>>>FANS AND DOORS OPEN**

It could be the power steering. I am having a problem with it moaning all the time though.
