I put Redline MT-90 in my car yesterday, and when I had drained the old fluid (It only have 1000 miles cuz it got changed with my clutch), it looked nice and brown...then when I pulled the catch bucket out from under the car and into the sun, I noticed it looked like it had glitter in it. I know the glittery stuff is berings and stuff from inside my tranny. It still works great, and shifts even smoother with the MT-90...could I be looking at a severe tranny problem soon...or do I have some miles left in the tranny????

The silvery color is a bad sign, and you knew that. Unfortunately there is no way to predict how soon the sky will fall. Just drive moderately and don't race.

Is the old fluid still around? If so, order a sample kit from www.blackstone-labs.com and get it analyzed.

Otherwise, go 1k miles on this batch of fluid and take a sample from it (yes, you will lose some fluid to actually obtain a sample). Send it in and maybe Blackstone can shed some light on what's happening...

Will an oil analysis provide an accurate estimate of remaining life in the transmission?

You've struck gold! Filter it and issue a claim to the gov't!

If it's a golden glitter, then it's your synchros. More than likey, it's residue from the previous oil. If the car is shifting smoothly you are probably okay.

The thing is you will ALWAYS get some wear because the synchros help you get into each gear easier. I got this glitter when I changed my tranny oil too.

An tranny oil sample is not a bad idea though. They can tell you what material the glitter is(ie..synchros, bearing, gear etc..)
