before I bought my spring compressor I used to just put the spring/strut on the floor next to a wheel with to make sure it doesn't shoot towards me and blast the bolt off with impact gun.. the strut goes flying about 5 or 6 feet away..
When you go to put the lowering springs on you won't need to compress it... Just make sure you do it where it won't hit anyone or thing and bounce around.. do it on grass.... I know, I know, it's not the safest way but it works I did this on all four.. the fronts fly further.

Rears are not under much preload at all. Just zip the nut off, you can hold the assembly down with just your body weight or let it fly off on the floor.
