Needs some help guys

so ya my car still can't get inspected because the OBD isn't ready mainly the Evap and the Catalytic converter, I've driven it for over 200 miles already but the read out still says not ready, exactly how many miles do I have to drive until my computer is ready to be read for inspection... the mechanic suggested for me to leave my car overnight and start it the next morning and drive it cold to kcik in the converter... any suggestions?

Usually It's about 80 miles, but it should be a good long run. (at operating temp for at least an hour or so) Short trips won't do the trick.

When hooked up to a code scanner it will read "Not Ready" for some/all sensors if they haven't had time to become operational. In NY you can only have a max of 2 sensors reading "Not Ready" if you want to pass inspection with an OBDII car.

Like already mentioned ethnic6, a good hour or so of driving should set them to ready. They also recommend to vary the speed (as in a little stop-and-go, and a little highway driving) to get them ready.

the problem is, I had a Evap code and a rear OS code earlier this month, I reset it, and it hasn't shown up since... so would that have contributed to the problem as well? Guess I'll take it for a drive this saturday I'll go on the highway and drive for an hour... thanks guys...
