Update.... Exhaust Question

Okk... Earlier I was asking everyone for advice between a greddy and cattman exhaust. My friend just told me to tell you guys about my current exhaust system. About 3 years ago, I purchased an OBX type H full catback exhaust. I'm really not happy with it, but whatever. My friend told me if i really wanted a cattman, all I need is the muffler, I dont need the full catback. I thought I needed a new b-pipe and muffler. But I have no idea... Any suggestions?

you could always get a custom b-pipe built and just ustilize the cattman axle back. i dont know if youd get the same sound though.

I went with just the muffler itself and left the b-pipe stock at first. It wasn't the sound I was looking for which is why I just installed the cattman b-pipe last week to complete the cat-back. I would have went with another b-pipe since they are a lot cheaper from other companies but I didn't want to gamble with it and get a different sound than I wanted.

Well if you want a catback then get a catback. If not then get the axle-back...what are you asking? It's like we're telling you what to put on the car....it's all your choice. But I say go with the full catback haha

haha.. well... its just im really confused... honstly, i dont even know what a b-pipe is or what it does.. I just know when cattman sells a full catback they list it as (b-pipe+muffler).... since i already bought an OBX and i wanna change, my friend told me i dont need a full catback because i already have a b-pipe, so i should just go with a cattman muffler.. and i wanted everyone's opinion, cuz i have no idea what would be best..

the OBX type H is pretty much a copy of the Greddy but $300 cheaper, a great SS catback for the money just a different name on it. BUT... the b pipe and rear section are about 1-2 inches differen t than stock, meaning the part were they meet is a bit further to the rear, so that b pipe isnt compatable with either stock or cattman. other wise obx is a good system, but very very loud.

I'm curious as to why you are unhappy with your OBX cat-back. What are you unhappy with?

2 things... mainly, its not deep enough for me.. i remember when i 1st got the exhaust, every1 told me it was gonna be LOUD... its alright.. between 2000-3000rpm is when it sounds decent... and then im not happy with the big *** round muffler and tip.. it has rusted like crazy, and i def wanna change it.. just not sure if i should go all out and get a complete new catback or what...

So you want it to be louder? Then Cattman is not the way to go. I've heard it's pretty quiet. As far as the look, find a tip you like and a reputable shop, cut the old tip off flush and weld the other one on. I have an OBX H-type and I had a Stillen bull nose tip welded on. (see pic) It will cost a lot less than buying all of the other exhaust parts.

Just wanted to clarify that I was in no way downgrading Cattman. If I had the money, that is probably the exhaust I would buy because of the quality and sound. If you are looking for louder and don't have an aftermarket y-pipe like a Budget or Warpspeed, I would go that route. You will hear & FEEL the difference.

so ur looking for louder than OBX?? wow, i donno if anything like that exists, other than drilling holes in ur exhaust. the y pipe which will eliminate a cat will certainly add sound (if u dont have one already) and getting a b-pipe w/o a resonator will defenatly make it louder, but i cant imagine y ur want a daily driver to be that loud.

well i have just exhast shop pipe from my cat back and im using the 60-75 dollar advance auto parts tuner muffler. its the really small stainless one. ITs a really really deap throaty skylineish sound. big imprvement over the huge muffler that was on there when i bought the thing. that with the cold air and i sound pretty good. first time i heard someone else drive my car i was like "damn" thats me!
