Need help getting drive side axle in....

I did my passenger side like around 4 months ago. Now my drive cv boot crapped out. So i got a new one from raxles, great. i took the driver side axle out with a lil bit of force. Now i'm trying to get the axle back in. and i can't. I put a block on one end n starting hitting it with a hammer, no luck. I thought i read somewhere you have to twist while pushing, i'm doing it. doesn't work. Now i'm coming to you guys since you have all pulled through for me.....can someone help me out here??

dont hit it with a hammer... just insert the end into the trans.... then use weight of the shaft to put it in....
