A Whine that increases with RPM?

im getting a whine that increases with the rpms. obviously as the rpms get higher or im cruising on a highway i cant hear it anymore b/c of the in-cabin noise level. but im sure its still there. anyways, what causes this? ive heard people say alternator. but what exactly is going on? also, does my sound system have something to do wth it directly. maybe my wires need to be re-wired or something?? thanks in advance

Would you like some cheese with that whine J/K

Have your Alternator checked, most likely that's your problem.

Had the same problem, replaced the Alternator & no more whine.

Does it go away if you turn the stereo off?
If the whine comes from the speakers it grounding, from the engine it's most likely alt.

Make sure that the grounding point is to bare metal. Good signal wires should help as well.
