PCV/Oil Catch Can. PICS !!!

I would recommend doing this.

Cost was about $27 for the Air/Water Seperator from Sears, then another $14 for fittings and hose.

Took not all that long, and you just put it inline with your PCV system.

When you rev the car up you can see gases inside the Can. Havent driven the car yet so no word on how much it actually picks up.

Nice but that thing is huge! Did it have the warning about synthetic oils?

What exactly does that do? I understand it gets rid of gases and oil but what's the benefit? A non-gunked up IACV?

This was the small one out of the two Sears sells. NO warning on it. Who really cares though. If it starts to fall apart or break down, Ill buy another one. I dont want all that oil going into my Manifold

subscribing.. one of the guys at the SFMG meet in October had one for his 3.5 and man it was a decent amount he was keeping out. Like he literally had damn thing full and he said he has to empty it quite often.

Just an update

I put this on when my motor was pretty fresh and hadent run in over 5 years. Motor had 8500 miles. First 1000 miles, the catch can was catching alot of fuel and oil. About 70 fuel and 30 oil. I emptied it a few times, no big deal. Now its really not catching all that much. I figure the motor is broken in a bit since it was put in and is running better and all around less blow by

For the $40 or so bucks, its Definetly 100% worth doing.

Yep I put this on my car recently. You will be amazed as how much oil goes into your IM. Definitely keeps it clean.

I have about 700 miles on my oil change, cleaned it when I did my oil change, and I barely have a TBSP in there.

Cool, i read the posts but i'm still on the "short bus" on this one guys. I understands it catches oil and gas from getting into the manifold. Why do you want to keep oil and gas out? And what is the benefits. This is a cool mod, do you have a youtube vid up? Will this work on 05 Maxima? I just traded my 99 maxima and i mis her

1. does it help the egr valve clogging up problem?

2. IS THE PCV HOSE UNDER PRESSURE OR VACUUM - I thought these units were for pressure only?

3. And which way is the flow in the pcv hose- that would affect the filter installation

No. Has nothing to do with the EGR system

Its under Vaccum at idle and during cruizing. I build pressure cause of the supercharger, but an N/A motor, it will be vaccum

When you set it up, you'll see which way to put it. I forget which way I installed mine.

Cleaner manifold = better.

If you have a PCV valve, then yes, it will work.

1. No, not really.

2. Works on Vacuum from the manifold, from what I know.

3. It flows from the rear valve cover to the manifold.
