Bose "theft codes" ??

I'm in the process of purchasing a replacement Bose head unit for my '96 Max. The person sez they don't have the "theft codes" for the unit. I was under the impression that swapping out like head units was just a process of getting your old one out (not easy) and just plugging in the new one.

Am I missing something here??

Plug and play!! No such feature on 95-99...don't even think the newer one's have. Enjoy, while it works.

Taking out the HU is one of the easier ones I've had to do. The hardest part is removing the vents at the top. I use an upholstery removal tool. Same thing for the trim around the gearshift (manual) then undo the nuts holding it in.

No codes. Sweet. Sounds like a deal. I'll have to replace a couple of buttons on the new HU from my old unit (CD & tape are dead - just having radio really bites) but I'll post back with odds n' ends that others may want.
