Any reason besides a bad cv seal?

I replaced my drivers side cv last week, and since then I have had a small drip coming from where the axle goes into the transmission. I was very careful putting the new axle in, but apparently not careful enough. Would there be any reason for a drip besides the seal being damaged? How do you replace the seal, is it pretty intuitive?

Leaking from the axle seal is all there really is there. You a 5MT or 4AT? If 5MT, diff bearings are common to have insufficient preload and wear out the axle seals.

Replacement is easy, remove axle, remove seal, drive in new seal and replace axle.
