Did a tranny flush and oil changed today....Car runs much more smoother

Did a tranny flush and oil change simultaneously today, my max runs much more smoother. Thanx to the instructions by maxima.org. My first time tranny flush was a success. Did not buy new parts because autozone did not have any gaskets, filters, nor tranny bolts for the 4th gen max. Just bought 11 quarts of mobil 1 tranny oil, 4 quarts of mobil 1 10-30, and brake cleaner. Cleaned the pan and filter by hosing it down with brake cleaner, worked like a charm. And I also put threadlock sealant on the tranny bolts to make sure it doesnt leak. Knock on wood everything will hold up until next tranny flush. Thanx maxima.org for your knowledge and instructions. Next project is to change spark plugs and fuel filter. wewt

A fellow .orger helped me change my tranny fluid and engine oil. We used Mobil 1 Synthetic ATF as well as Mobil 1 5W-30 extended performance engine oil. The previous owner used Castrol Syntec (i know). Before changing the ATF, i put a little over 1/2 pint of seafoam transtune in the tranny and drove around for 7 miles. My oil pressure switched was leaking bad, so we decided to take care of it while changing the oil. After everything's done, everything has gotten ALOT smoother! The engine is smoother and sounds better! The tranny shifts great! The hard 1-2 shifts are history! I'm glad i did this, it was all worth it. (Though the oil pressure switch is still leaking, although less)

the only that would of bothered me a little was the pan gasket and reusing it.

it might have a leak in the future, possilbe to roll the gasket or ding it up. But aleast its a common and simple fix.

personally drain and fill the trans fluid is good enough for me. 4 qts is good enough for me.

Yea i ended up using the same gasket too but they all still look like in good condition. Even the old tranny oil seems pretty good it was darkish red but liquidy not gunky or gooey. Still looked like it could go for more miles cuz i did a drain and refill with mobil 1 two times in the past. But the tranny flush made sure the transmission is full synthetic making me feel at ease that the tranny is protected for longer intervals.
