Interesting situation.

I just ordered Eibach springs on Gregs custommaxima.com site for $195 plus $20 shipping. Seems we hit the five people required and he's shipped them. It all happened pretty quickly and it's a great price.

However, I received email from Greg stating that the shipping is now $30 instead of $20 originally quoted and charged via PayPal. I've been asked to send the additional $10 by paypal and the reason the springs are $10 more to ship is because they are heavier than Greg expected.

Ok.. I can go along with this I guess. I would have figured he had them, weighed them and knew how much they would be to ship prior to putting up the group deals.

I've just been to his site which he keeps updating on what seems to be a daily basis and I see the same items up for group deal but now the Eibachs are showing that he has 2 buyers and needs 3 more. This indicates the end of the deal I was in which already had the 5th person and the beginning of another round. The price is STILL showing $20 shipping however.

What's going on? I don't know Greg and I'm figuring things are on the up-and-up but I am starting to wonder. $10 is no big deal and I have no problem paying it. I'm just feeling that it's odd the way the extra charge is being handled and the fact the shipping price hasn't been changed on the site.

Are my concerns unfounded?

my thought

i don't know how your end it gonna turn out...but every interaction with Greg/custommaxima has been positive on my part...my clear corners came in 2 days...and hopefully my popcharger will come early next week...i've spoken to him many a times online pestering him with silly questions and he has always responded kindly...it does seem a bit odd though...who knows...just my $.02...later

Well i ordered some diamond lights from greg and he was very prompt with answering e-mails and shipping product and even supplying UPS Tracking numbers. To me he is a very dependable seller. But from my experience personally from sending springs, it usually does cost $22, i've done it twice and both were the same price for shipping them.

I too had a positive experience with purchasing Diamonds from Greg. I've emailed him quite a few times with questions and he was very prompt in answering them.

Hmm,

same EXACT thing happened to me. I was part of the Tokico deal that just finished. 10$ extra for shipping. For my situation, tho, my Tokicos are on the way and I have to pay him afterwards. I don't really feel he's being shady or anything, but the shipping on his site still does say 20 even tho mine is 30. Maybe he hasn't had a chance to update his website yet.

You know what, let's not make excuses for him. I'll send him this thread and see what he has to say.

If you look at the Eibach deal, it says closed June 29th, that was my deal. I'm not trying to screw Greg or cause problems but it seems odd that he still has the $20 shipping on these items if it's really $30.

I figured I'd post here in an open forum to 1. Give people currently considering these deals the scoop on the real cost, 2. Give Greg a chance to reply as to what's up so that people don't start some rumor behind his back, 3. Find out for myself what's going on and to see if others were faced with the same issue.

Damn $30 shipping... Hope that is express mail... I got mine from shox.com for $199+ $14 for shipping UPS ground.
Please keep in mind that like stated below he is not running a business...he is just setting up deals for other members which is really nice...

I removed the next statement below...As it was an uninformed one.

I do believe his prices are very good. And will probably be purchasing a cat from him asap... Oh and some diamond cut clears...

We all have to understand that due to the fact that he is not running a business per say, but a deal for other maxima.org members that things like shipping can be costly.

Oh and for you who say but he is making some money off the deals... Duh but he also did spend the time getting the deals worked out...

This is my $.02 (hopefully a better informed one)

Well David thank you for informing me about this thread so i could try to clear it up. First of all I am not a business and do not have the buying power of other business that can buy in bulk and get cheap prices. As you all may know I simply get on the phone call these places that you guys want group deals from and try to get the best prices I can.

If my prices do not seem as low as some other places i am not surprised. Big places like shox.com has alot of money to buy hundreds of sets of them and get a good deal on them.

The shipping on the shocks was a nightmare. I spent a few hours on the phone trying to get this cleared up with the company i got them from. Seems like the one who quoted me the deal was full of crap, so i had to have the general manager there clear it up. Shipping was more because apparently the sales person did not know that it weighs 45 lbs for the entire kit. There was a couple of you that had them shipped to Hawaii..........shipping there is incredible and almost not worth it. I had to email several of you and ask for more money to cover shipping. Thought you might want to know that I had to cover OUT OF MY OWN POCKET about $60 in extra shipping charges so they could be shipped to all you and hope that you guys would reimburse me. Notice I merely asked for reimbursement since it was not your fault, and i don't think it was my fault, i was given false information.

I AM VERY SORRY IF YOU GUYS THINK THAT IT WAS NOT WORTH IT. I AM GOING TO BE DISCONTINUING THE GROUP DEALS FOR THE SUSPENSION STUFF TOMMOROW BECAUSE IT IS NOT WORTH THE HEADACHE. THE LAST GROUP DEAL ENDED UP COSTING ME MONEY AND AS YOU CAN SEE IT IS STILL COMING BACK TO HAUNT ME.

IN THE FUTURE I WILL HAVE MORE THEN ONE PERSON CONFIRM THE DEAL BEFORE I START TO TAKE ORDERS, THERE IS SOME IDIOTS OUT THERE AT THESE COMPANIES THAT SCREW US ALL OVER.

REMEMBER GUYS THAT I DO THESE GROUP DEALS FOR ALL YOU....YOU ARE WELCOME TO BUY FROM OTHER PLACES, I COULD CARE LESS. CUSTOMMAXIMA.COM WAS CREATED FOR FELLOW MAXIMA OWNERS WHO DON'T WANT TO PAY FULL RETAIL PRICE. I'LL KEEP TRYING TO HOOK YOU GUYS UP WITH SWEET DEALS ALL I ASK IS THAT THIS DOES NOT TURN INTO A BUSINESS, YOU ARE NOT MY CUSTOMERS, JUST FRIENDS I AM GIVING GOOD DEALS ON. KEEP IT INFORMAL AND WE WILL ALL MAKE OUT GOOD IN THE END. IF YOU GUYS FEEL THAT YOU PAID TO MUCH FOR YOUR SUSPENSION STUFF PLEASE LET ME KNOW BY MONDAY AT NOON EST AND I CAN CANCEL YOUR ORDERS AFTER THAT THEY ARE SHIPPED OUT.

Greg is cool

Listen guys, i dont understand why you are doubting my man Greg. All the time he hooks me up, and he hooks every other maxima owner up with great prices on great performance parts. I always go to his site to look first for anything that I want for my car. Turns out, Greg is actually the one getting screwed here. It might look like hes trying to **** you but he isnt ! Why would someone want to do that to another Maxima enthusiast. I wish there were more people in this world like Greg. So guys just dont doubt him in anyway, please. Just my $.02

I have nothing but great things to say about Greg. I appreciate his site offerings and his personal time he has spent on several questions I had. Whatever he ask of you extra, just pay it. He is not trying to scam a few extra dollars out of anyone. I personally would like to continue to have offerings of all mods for Maximas on his site, so please don't anyone screw it up over a few extra bucks shipping. Consinder my penny in the bucket.

Thanks for the explaination. Clears things up considerably. Only item that was confusing me was the site update still showing the old shipping costs. No matter. I feel I got a good deal and as I said previously, I have no problem sending the extra shipping money. In fact, as I said in my email, I'll be picking up more items from you.

I can understand that you're a little ****ed-off because of this situation. I'm sorry if my post added to your headache. I feel that your group deals are a great service to other Maxima owners.

I guess that a lesson learned from this is to communicate the problem a little better up front to the guys you're asking to pay additional charges. Be it via a more detailed email or actually by phone. I'm sure if you had called people and explained the situation, they wouldn't have had any questions and you would have avoided additional headaches.

Keep up the good work and I look forward to picking up additional mods for my Maxima from you.

Greg is a great guy...

OK no Greg bashing, some people have issues with Greg and that is fine, some people are never happy no matter hwo great a deal they get from Greg. I know Greg personally, he and I worked together (with some other people) to set up the disaster of a meet at Danbury last year, and who got screwed the hardest? Greg, why? Because he stood up to authority and demanded answers.

I have purchased lots of stuff from Greg, even before he became Custommaxima.com I was buying stuff from him like tails and the like. I have partaken in alot of his Group Deals and bought regular parts from him. You can thank him for my black SE grill (Thanks again Greg), and recently through his group deals ordered all of my exhaust from him.

Never had a problem with nor do I forsee one. I know he can't make much money on this stuff, even though he has a right to. He really is just looking out for the enthusiast. Taking potshots at a member of this caliber is not warranted.

...off my soapbox

sometimes you can't help but be screwed by manufacturers.
honestly, who else has ever run a trenz grill groupdeal?
nobody, and the prices Greg got were great. up until the group deal i was seeing used grills going for around that price he was offering. i also bought diamond cuts from him which came in days, and the grills are getting to me and well worth the wait.. remember greg's just a buddy hooking us all up if we want it. keep up the fresh GD's Greg
