Yeah, i have a Bulldog(not the greatest brand) remote starter/ alarm and i seriously love it. It works awesome. the only thing that is off bit is the unlock function for aftermarket alarms. All nissans have a standard "dual pulse" unlock function. which means that the unlocking actuator takes two pulses of electrical signal before it unlocks the door. the aftermarket alarms and remote starters have a "dual pulse" unlock feature, but it has about a 3-4 second delay between each pulse. other than that. the remote starter install and operation on maxs is easy and worth it.

is there really such a big difference btwn autotragic and 5spd? I know i have alot of switches which won't allow the car to move, or get stolen while being on.

I dont know how different the wiring is but it cant be that hard,my guy installed my Viper for 30 bucks, said even at the shop he would have only charged 50-60 bucks if you brought your own alarm.

i have an aftermarket alarm but no starter, mine is by autopaige

i used to have a remote starter on my old 91 buick regal boat, it worked excellent, range was awesome, it saves five minutes everytime u prewarm, so i duno u do the math

365 days a year times 5 minutes = 1825 minutes a year that u save of sitting in ur vehicle waiting to heat up

Disclaimer: figures are generalizations and do not pertain to real life results so dont go trying this at home kids, HAHA

that is the job of the installer. the door open wire should be hooked up to the unlock switch on the main door. no second pulse needed.

well the installer told me all most aftermarket alarms have 2 stage unlock hence why this other person mentions the same thing in his earlier thread, but i think u r right, there should be some way to do it

Yea, I didn't get that either. What is this dual pulse mess you people are talking about. If recall correctly it's 5v and once it gets tapped to ground the doors unlock. At least with the 4th gen anyway.

I personally programmed mine (omega max-e) to require me to hit the unlock button twice to unlock the doors. The first touch disarms the alarm and the second unlocks the doors because I have 2way pager with good range and I found myself accidentally hitting the unlock button while it was in my pocket.

Remote Start = One Happy Customer... I Stay Warm In The Winter And Cool In The Summer

Regarding Double Pulse Unlock... Most A/s Systems Have A Double Pulse Unlock Wire Or The System Can Be Programmed For Double Pulse Unlock... This Is Very Common In Nissans

Yeah, I have to hit the buttons just once but we do have a double pulse thing. I hate it, didn't know about it at first and pulled on the door while it was doing the second pulse and the lock got stuck lol....but w/e the other 3 doors opened so i fixed it. Done that many times haha but got used to it already.

I have one from a GD a while ago, for $99 shipped. Works pretty well, but I do have the double pulse unlock, takes a full second after hitting the button for the doors to unlock. That and the setting for unlocking when the key is removed from the ignition, I always try to open the door as soon as I do and the lock gets stuck in place for a second, with the motor complaining.

Where did everyone put their antennas? I had mine coming out of the driver side A-pillar on the very top of the windshield next to the headliner which had okay range, but recently the adhesive failed so I just stuck it in the A-pillar and is still works, but range sucks.

ITS SANDWICHED BETWEEN THE REARVIEW AND THE HEADLINER AS YOU LOOK AT IT FROM THE DRIVERS SEAT...

yeah mine is there also but i'm starting to think that the tint around that area is messing with the reception. But it has never failed yet.
