Can't find coolant temp sensor

I posted a few days ago a problem I've had with cold starting the car since it's gotten colder in Boston lately. I want to check the coolant temperature sensor for the ECU. I have a '96 GLE. I looked in the Haynes manual and it has a picture of the sensor supposedly on some left engine hose. I looked under the hood and can't find anything to match the picture (unless they had the intake manifold removed when they photographed it ;-)

Can someone tell me where the *&()^ thing is??

Thanks,

Phil

I can sell you one if you need it.

If I remember correctly it's near the tranny dipstick.
I will look up the picture of the sensor/location later tonight or Sunday morning.

Try searching maxima.org , there was an excellent pic of it.

Thanks Mizzax

Mizzax, Thanks. I don't know where the Haynes manual photographer found his pic. Now I can test it.
