Part # for 1999 Chipped Key?
I recently lost my main key and fob and I need to replace it so I have a backup again. I bought a transponder key blank off eBay that was supposed to be for 1999-200x Maximas but it turned out to be the newer (5th gen key) which has a slightly different blank. This is a common problem for us 99s because 5th gen Maximas were built starting in 1999 (and most 99s were built in 98) and that's a constant source of confusion.
Anyway, the dealer charges over $70 for a new blank, but only $25 for cutting and programming so I want to order a new OEM blank from a discount parts store online and take it to the dealer. A search for "key" turns up nothing. Anyone have the part number?

Here is the link so that you can check it out. I know you said that the keys from a dealer are to high but the part number is a start.. not sure if it is ONLY Nissan or not here it is.. Hope it helps....

Thank you. I checked Courtesy's site but couldn't find it for some reason. That part number unfortunately does not turn up anything at any other discount Nissan website...it may be an old part number that has been superceded. (Courtesy is not usually the cheapest discount Nissan parts dealer.)

Is there any difference between these two keys:

And will this work for my 99? I lost my key today.
