Waterpump going bad? Vid inside
I'm getting a kind of humming/whistling noise from the timing chain area. The belts are new and have the correct tension. All bearings on the alternator, compressor etc are good. I also found a bit of coolant on the garage floor the other day. From searching it seems to be the water pump but I wanted to check with the org for confirmation.
Here is a vid of the sound, It does not go away when revved, When I turn off the radio, I can hear the whistle while driving.

motor has 147,000mi on it.
Any ideas on what it might be? Power feels fine right now and like I said its losing a bit of coolant. In about 150mi the resivor bottle went from the full line to the empty line. Temp gauge stays right in the middle position on the dash

I listened as carefully as I could. That sounds more like a fan than something mechanical. I say this b/c at cold start with my car, I'll hear something similar, but not as loud. It also happens with my wife's '99 325i- and then the noise will go away after about 30 to 45 seconds.
My theory is that it's more emissions related (o2 sensors or cats preheated)-I dunno. But I would think a waterpump noise would have a more mechanical sound.

Has anyone that had their waterpump go and had similar sounds to this? OR is this sound something unrelated to the waterpump?

Update.
Pulled off the access hole to the waterpump and its not the waterpump, the sound is coming from somewhere further in the engine. So at this point, I guess I'm just going to drive it and hopefully it will make it till spring, then I'll see what to do about where to 3.5 it or just put another vq30 in.

I had a friend with an '06 G35 Sedan though and I didn't see a single problem.
friend of mine with an 06 350z is burnin oil and another friend has a spare 3.5 with a blown head gasket. That is why I went the de-k route when I swapped. Reliable, cheaper, and easier. atleast in my case
The 2005 VQ35 i bought isn't burning oil in the slightest. Nothing but carbon on the pistons like any VQ30 piston i've seen. I'll enjoy the added TQ, with trick stock features like an oil cooler and piston oil squirters. The VTC's won't hurt either.
FWIW, most VQ35's do NOT burn oil. You just hear about everyone that is. People that have a perfectly fine motor don't make special threads or take their car to the dealer saying how well their motor is running.
