What color to paint car.

I am getting my car painted as a christmas gift. Any suggestions what color to go with. I will be getting it done at MAACO because my parents don't want to spend $2000 or more. It was previously painted there in champagne color before I bought it.

Damn Maaco for a full paint job? That's not suggested, I need a fender painted and searched for Maaco and A LOT of members do not like them. If you don't really need it, tell your parents to save up a little bit more for a good paint job. If you want to change colors, White, Black, and Sagemist Green are my favorites for Maximas.

my friend got his car painted there last january (red) and now the car is a lighter sort of orange color.. and it's chipping on the hood and around the wing area.... But he knew that would happen becuase the guy at Maaco told him that he only gaurantees the paint job for 6 months. At least it was only $400 for the whole car(new years special).

You could probably find a better quality job for about $1000-$1400 if you search long enough.. A lot of the reputable shops around brooklyn and queens quoted me $1200 to keep the same color and $1700 for a full color change(that includes inside the door jams). But if you only plan on keeping the car for 6 months maaco is fine..

I got a paint job at maaco on my old max and it was fine. I kept the same color and it didnt chip at all and I had it for another year before it got totaled. But my friend went there a week after I did and his paint starting chipping fast.. So I dunno you can just get one and hope it doesnt chip or save up and get a good paint job. As for what color I would go with black or white.

cream pearlescent has always been a favorite of mine.

Like this, but a creamier color with blue pearl:

From what I read, they jobs are sh!tty b/c of the prep work, if you can do it yourself, you will end up saving money and MAYBE get a good paint job.

that 350Z blue is hot, and so is the SE-Ls red, but I'm not sure if you're going "out there" or conservative, black's nice but impossible to keep clean, maybe a nice pearl white or charcoal?

***PREP WORK IS KEY****

If you wet-sand ur entire car, every nic and crack....
(possibly even remove ur tails/lights & mask around your windows yourself)

Then it wont look that bad.........
Preparation is essential to a good paint job. step#1.

You can have someone lay the paint crappy but you can wet sand runs out with 1500grit afterwards and itll still look good.......

i'm paying about $2,000 to have my car repainted as well as have two new bumpers put on, spoiler, and a new hood. OEM parts as well.

my friend he got his max worked on at the place by me in the chicago area and he did a very good job. from what i have heard about maaco is that you don't wanna have your car taken there. not worth it unless its a hon...

Why would you spend 2000$ to a car that's worth only about 7000$ at the most? There are plenty other things you can do that'll go a longer way to make you happy than to paint you 10 yr old car. But its your car and your parents' money, that's just my opinion.

Good point, it could be saved for college, another car, insurance, etc.

thanks

Hey thanks for your help everyone. i know maaco sucks but my car was already painted there and the chipping is minimal. I figured I would do all the prep work and just have them spray it. Also since I'll change the color i might not have them do the jams because of cost, and just spray the outside of the car. I think im going with black, or that 350Z blue that looks nice, and black might be too annoying to keep clean.
