yep, my spoiler fell off . . .

well I know it's been loose for a while, but the other day it just broke off when I opened the trunk.

Below you'll see some pictures of the spoiler.

The first one shows the 2 bolts that hold it to the trunk lid mounts that are more inner than the clip mounts that are on the outsides. The flat part that the bolts are attached to and contacts the trunk lid completely sheered off from the rest of the spoiler.

I'm thinking of using some Plastic Epoxi to bond these two pieces back together. Then I'll drill a hole in the trunk lid and flat mounting pieces between the bolts. I plan on running some wires through these holes, through the spoiler, and then back into the trunk lid where they will be tied together to help reduce stress on the epoxi fix.

This one shows the other side of the spoiler, this mount is also starting to seperate.

What I need help with are the clips on the outter mounts. I called the dealership and they said it's $5.75 per clip! Sorry but I'm not spending that much especially since I'll need 4 clips.

so any ideas on where else I can purchase these clips? or what else I could use?

I was thinking of just running wires through these holes as well, but I don't want it to be completely bootleg. Also has anyone else had these clips break off on them? I can't believe that all four plus the inner mounts all broke. Maybe I drive too fast sometimes. . .

I think maybe the subwoofers had something to do with it, but they're not installed anymore so whatever fix should be good.

yea seriously. spend the $20. $20 is nothing to fix a car. if i could spend $20 and fix my spoiler i would. but i cant. cause mine was snapped in half last winter by a russian guy pushing me out of the snow (yes, by the spoiler) so, finally im getting around to fixing it correctly and im going to have to pop the plugs out of the holes, sand it down, weld in some metal to support the bondo, take the emblems off, sand down my whole trunk, repaint it, put the emblems on, and hope it freakin looks good. so if youde like, ill trade trunks. if you dont want to, please dont b*tch about $20

part #3 is what you want. You may be able to get it cheaper elsewhere, but it won't be by much.

I understand that $20 ain't much for fix a car, I just hate spending $5 on some plastic clips which should be $1.50

Thanks for the link natty, worst comes to worst I'll contribute to the highway robbery of a stealership, I was just hoping there was another alternative since these clips broke in the first place.

yes these OEM clips did break, they are plastic after all. But here's something that might shock you...How long did it take for them to break? Let's see, you have a 99.5 so production of your car was late 98 early 99...it took let's say 7 years for it to break! You think your alternative is gonna be good? IMHO it won't last the winter.

I'm not saying that what ever you have in mind won't work or w/e i'm just stating a fact. OEM owns all. So i personally wouldn't mind spending a few more dollars knowing that this will last for years.
