Cold start + Clutching in = Lights dim? wtf?

What does it mean when I start the car after it's been sitting in the cold for more then 4-5 hours turn on the lights, and whenever I clutch in while the car is still cold, the lights dim...no I am not seeing thing , but once the car has warmed up, everything is fine?

The only thing I can think of is my battery isn't holding a strong enough charged, but once the car has warmed up/ alternator running to recharge the battery, everything is good...

so am I right or way off?

i dont know if this is similar, but when i start my car and its warming up if i press the brakes the lights dim (all lights) and if i repeatedly press the brake pedal i can actually see the temperature gauge needle move up with every press of the brake. wtf is that?
