DIY question clutch pedal

Has anybody ever changed that little switch on the clutch pedal...
clutch interlock switch? by themsleves...?
Is there a write up on that?
Is it hard to do?

Basically, When I start the car, there would be hesitation and I would have to play with the clutch pedal in order to get contact.

So, I asked around and people said either ignition switch or that clutch interlock switch or both.
Just changed the ignition switch and it solved half of the problem...
I still have to play with the pedal in order to get the damn thing to engage...

Please help.

thanks

Hook the two wires up to eachother (in the harness to the clutch interlock switch). Of course, then you won't have cruise control...

Does the clutch interlock switch not act as CC cancel along with the brake pedal switch? I know on my '87 Max the PO has wired up the clutch switch like I stated above, and while you didn't have to push the clutch in to start it, the cruise wouldn't engage. When I wired it back to the clutch switch, cruise functioned normally.

THere are two switches, one is on top of the clutch pedal , that is for cruise control, and the other switch is for the starter, its on the bottom of the pedal, what you need to do is get to the one on the bottom and hook the two wires together.

... hmm why not just replace the switch... nice to know your car wont jump up and all over the place... if you forget to press teh clutch.. but hten again... you shouldnt have a manual if you forget things like that...

but never the less.. its a good feature to have.. incase you pas. thinks its cold in teh car.. and wants to start it...

So there are two routes to go:
-replace the switch (my original question)
-disable the switch.

dont know how to do either.

as far as disabling goes, just go under there open up the switch and connect the two contacts. If you really can't figure that out, just tape the switch down :P

buy a wire tap... at the local automotive store... go underneith the pedal and right behind the button tap the two wires together.. or just slice the connector and electric tape the wires together. I sugest using a wire tap cus you could always take it off.
