5th Gen Muffler Questions
5th Gen Muffler Questions
I have a 99 with a budget B pipe and a Custom fit Borla muffler bolted to the end of the budget B pipe. I am considering getting a 5th gen muffler to replace the Borla because I want something quieter.
I know that people have put 5th gen mufflers on and I have a few questions.
1. Are the 5.0 and 5.5 gen mufflers the same? Should I get the 5.0 muffler over the 5.5 since the 5.0 is made for a 3 liter engine?
2. When bolting the muffler to my budget b pipe, I assume that I will have to have a special piece of piping bent which would bolt up to the b pipe and then be welded to the muffler. I want to keep my exhaust all 2.5 in in diameter. The inlet of the 5th gen muffler probably isnt 2.5 inches. Would I need to have a 2.5 in hole bored into the muffler where the current inlet pipe is connected in order to stay consistent with the rest of the exhaust? Has anyone else tried this?
I hope these questions make sense. Any help/advice on this would be great.
Thanks

1.) 3.0 and 3.5 have different tip designs (sqare for 3.0 dual round for 3.5). They are both variable capacity and should flow very similar.
2.) They would simply use a 2.5 to 2.25 reducer entering the muffler. The path through the muffler is going to be a good bit smaller than 2.5 inches anyway.
