How did you get to the O2 sensors on the y pipe?

I tried to get to the so that I can exchangethem today and it was almost impossible to get to these suckers with my fat hands. I got the O2 sensor socket and I can't get that in there. How did you guys get that in there to get it out? Thanks for the help.

The sockets work good if you have a aftermarket y pipe.

Sockets Work

I just changed all my O2 sensors with a O2 socket. The front O2 sensor bank 2 all you need is a 1 foot extension with a universal joint (forget the proper name) or a wobble joint extension and pass it b/t tranny and engine cross bar. Helps when you have all the proper tools (dad owns shop). Good luck.

open ender easier than having all the extensions and swivels...WHICH I HAVE So proper tools is not the case....no need to wrestle with all that crap when all u need to do it break it lose with an open end wrench...

Member was just asking what worked for us. You don't have to bash other peoples comments (frequent problem on the org). The O2 socket works with all that CRAP that's all.

Now, which one exactly is bank 2? Is that the one on the passenger side? I tried to get a open wrench in there but no go. There is a piece of metal sticking out from the y pipe that looks like a heat shield or something. I tried to bend but that's almost impossible. Any suggestions?

Unforunately, I don't own much tools other than set of sockets, some o2 sensor sockets (rented), and some open socket wrench and some array of hand tools. I'm about to give up and just take it to Pepboys and have them do it for $150.

You can barely get the open end wrench on the bank 2 one. This is the one closest to the fire wall IIRC. Use some PB Blaster on the o2 sensor before trying to break it free. Let that sit for a good 10 or 15 minutes then try to break it free.

that wasn't a bashing...i simply stated that there is no need for extensions and fancy swivels....especially if he doesn't own them already.(if that is the case)
