I have that code 1008 for almost a year now but my car (95) still starts good even early in cold morning,4:00 am in N.E. Guess 1008 has nothing to do with your starting problem.

I have to rev mine also to keep it from dying right after I start it if its cold out. Does anyone know why it does that? I cleaned the MAF sensor and I still have the same problem. People said to buy a new MAF sensor but I dont think thats the problem.

clea the throttle body and IAC Valve. Probably gunk on the IAC Valve that is solid until that car has warmed up a little.
