Dose this sound right?

I have just about given up on my 95 4th gen for performance, I have a full, warp speed exhaust all mandrel bends, intake and the lightest good UDP made for maxims and I still only scored around 163 WHP on the dyno , my auto is killing me! dose that WHP sound right or is there somethign wrong with my engine?

I think the real power is in the 3.5 swap, SC or NO2

iv been thinking about doing the 00VI, that’s been proven to give some real power in the upper end (help me beat Hondas with there dam Vetch!)

Depends on which Honda you are talking about. I find that Hondas that can beat 4th gen maximas are far and apart in between. Personally I find the Vtec (especially the 4 cylinder models) that Honda so prodominately advertises is a little overrated. You have to drive like a madman to get any power out of those things. These engines have little torque to speak of. I hate going up a hill with them. No passing power at all. Although I admit they do get pretty good gas mileage. Also the suspension (technologically and longevity wise) is far superior to the 4th gen maxima. Other than that I find it puzzling that your car will lose to those Hondas.

uh ya i agree, and 00vi is much better than mevi. i dont have any of that and i only lose by 1.5 car lengths to s2000s. must be your knock sensor and your auto i guess.

well a RSX pulled up next to me at a light, he took off like a bat out of hell, I cought up to him, and had him till around 3ed gear at 4200 rpm ish (were 4th gen torq dies) and his vetec kicked in
(yeah i know both happen in all gears but 3ed is wherer he took me)

if i took a lounch I may have had him tho

I dont think my knock sensor is bad, i checked for codes the other day

trust me on this, change the KS and the harness, and swap a 5SPD in there. MEVI or 00VI its your call. but do the first two, then go hunting.

Sounds like I have the same issue. Had, as matter of fact. Now Ive got the 0304 code. Before I didnt. Still slow, barely beat a friends focus(auto) with a magnaflow catback and marcy motorsport CAI. Anyway, guess we're in the same boat.

mmm... so the knock sensor (even if it doesn't give you any codes) affect speed?? because like 2 weeks ago i was beaten by a MITSUBISHI MIRAGE... and i was pissed off (i think he had something extra) the problem was that i was racing in the street for like 17 seconds and when i looked at the speedometer it was at 85mph so i think thats bad but who knows.. its an auto. it was at that time that my engine valve cover gasket broke down so that may have caused the awful power. my car currently doesn't throw any codes

okay guys besides the knock sensor what COULD it possibly be? The knock sensor should throw a code, correct ( NO CEL )

Anyone have any similar dyno results with similar mods?

knock sensor will only throw a code if u have other codes example 02 sensor code comes up then ur KS code will come up....if the KS i bad it will retard timing which will ultmately lose HP and overall performance...u may have the KS code in the ECU it just doesnt trigger the light

....yup, thats about right 17 at 85mph. Condidering you have like...no mods...and an auto.

I know I went to the track and the best run I EVER had was 15.5 at 89 or something to that nature, it was 2 years ago. then last time I went to the track i went with reduced weight....and ran a 16.00 at 87?????

How much HP does that add? And can you give me a ballpark price range? Also, is it hard to install?

Look in the all motor forum stickies for info. Its the single most beneficial modification for n/a maxima's. Do some research. With what I'm including in the kit its practically a bolt on. Its kinda involved though...just do some research.
Ill sell the LIM, 00vi, and throttlebody w/ adaptor plate for 400 shipped.
