Motor Mounts

I recently took my max to the shop they told me that i had two mounts that were broken on my car, they recomended that i go ahead and change them all. They would charge me $700 to change them all parts and labor, that is alot of money. So my question is how hard is it to change those things myself, i am not a stranger to the do it yourself but a stranger to this kind of thing. So if there is anything i need to know before i embark on this adventure it would be helpful. Thanks!

$700 to change mounts i think is a rip off. i filled the 2 lower ones + the tranny mount w/ polyurethane myself.

I highly suggest filling the mounts yourself as well. plan for a couple of days downtime with your car while the mounts cure.

search for filling motor mounts.

all you need is a jack, jack stands, and some ratches and sockets, you can change them yourself, its not hard.

the 4G sticky explains the process better.

it's not as bad as he makes it sound, but don't forget a key step that he doesn't mention........ don't tighten the mounts all the way, there is a procedure in the haynes and fsm as follows but I might have the order slighly wrong so double check me, lower the car completely off jackstands, the weight of the car MUST be on all 4 wheels, then tighten the 4 crossmember bolts all the way first, then the rear mount, front mount, transmission mount, then finally the timing cover mount )this order might not be right.
